A Company that Cares
With leadership comes responsibility. As the largest packaged
gas distributor in America, Airgas has found ways to create value in the communities
where we live and work. Airgas has the largest hazmat emergency response organization
in the U.S. specifically trained to deal with compressed gases, with more than
25 teams nationwide. Throughout the year, AERO – Airgas Emergency Response Organization
– team members drill with community firefighters on dealing with incidents involving
gases and cylinders.
When disaster strikes, Airgas associates are trained to respond.
Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Airgas associates went to great lengths to
make sure hospitals were supplied with medical oxygen. And in the storm’s aftermath,
AERO teams helped gather and properly dispose of damaged cylinders. In addition
to helping Gulf State communities, Airgas employees took care of each other. Recognizing
the need of many associates displaced by the storm, the company began the Airgas
National Disaster Fund, which combines associate contributions and corporate matching
funds to provide aid to needy Airgas employees in natural disaster situations.
Airgas
also demonstrates caring is through its role as a national sponsor for the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation. In 2006, Airgas raised more than $225,000, making the company
the top corporate fundraising team in America for the year. However, the greatest
impact we make is seen in the local communities where we work. Through efforts
big and small, we are always looking for a way to give back, making significant
contributions to the communities we serve every day.
